Why are you so low? Are you frustrated to tears? Do you really want to get found online? Marketing is a scary word and it can bring up some pretty bad memories. At least, that's what I've found out talking with small business owners. You need to market your business in order to build more connections and attact more customers. But online marketing can actually frustrate you to tears.
If you have a good product and you provide great service, why would you not want to promote your product? Even some of the most experienced entrepreneurs have trouble trying to promote their products online. It doesn't have to be that way with you. You can break through all of the noise by creating phenomenal content and using some state of the art digital tools to educate your customers and provide value to them. In the long run, those kinds of people will be the most loyal customers. They will treat you like a trusted friend rather than a hired gun. You've gotta prove yourself, though. That's the real key to digital marketing.
Very few people are just going to happen by your website unless you prepare your site and promote it properly with good solid content. After you create and organize your content, you can also take some practical steps to make sure you get beneficial ranking status from whatever search engine your customers may be using. You really need to be professional about it.
Online marketing can be a vital component to the health and vitality of small businesses all over the place. There are a couple of digital marketing methods I'm sure you've heard about. They are Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC). They are really good methods you can use to get found but there are also pitfalls if you end up getting it wrong. These weaknesses are manifested in results that range from dismal to horrible and you have to think hard about how you will approach your online digital marketing in these two areas. SEO Weakness
1) Long Game
It takes a while to develop any SEO strategy, so if you have limited liquidity and you need to increase sales now, you may want to consider PPC. I find that people often have little patience and don't understand that it takes commitment and some smart work to get seen using SEO.
SEO, at least now, is defined by amazing content, articles and videos that people really want to see. You want to publich content that people will be attracted to. That kind of content takes a lot of time to create, unless you pay for it. You have to publish and optimze stuff on a regular schedule to be able to affect Search Engine Rankings.
SEO is predicated on the keywords that you would like to opimize your site for. Choosing the wrong keywords is likely to ensure you have horrible results and never make your site visible to the folks you're dying to attract.
PPC can be expensive, although it depends what keywords you target. Hubspot.comsays:
"Your ads appear above or to the right of organic search results on Google when people search for these keywords. The cost of your ads depends on the competitiveness of the keyword you're targeting, but you only pay if visitors actually click on your ad."
In other words, it is foolish for beginners who don't know what they want to target simple words, because that can get expensive real fast. I remember one CEO telling me that he saw more than $1,000 vanish with absolutely no results in about five minutes. You need to choose your keywords wisely and manage your account with care to make it effective.
2) Ingoring Ads
We have effectively trained searchers online to ignore the advertisments online. You can be very successful using adwords but you can also spend a lot of money and not get the results you want to see and that is accentuated when searchers ignore you advertisements. Your ads need to be very relevant to their needs to entice them to click.
3) Short-Term Solution
Once you stop paying for these ads, they stop benefiting you. Contrast this to SEO efforts, which are more hardy and long lasting. Once the well is dry, the ads stop, traffic stops, and dreams shrivel on the vine.
