There are two types of business owners out there.
There are those that are committed to making a difference and those that are just along for the ride or just out to make money. Which kind of person are you? Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to build credibility, build brand, and build an online presence that reflects your values and your commitment?
You need to build strong content foundations to exemplify your commitment and knowledge.
Building an online presence is not just about building a website. You need to keep the content fresh and interesting. You see, building credibility online is about creating the best content that you can consistently and with great regularity. You need to have content that will engage your audience and make them want to come back again. The book Topic Ideas for Content Marketers says it best:
"Creating good content is the key to marketing on the internet. No social media campaign, product promotion, SEO strategy, online PR initiative, blog or website can be successful for any reasonable length of time without high quality, original content on interesting and useful topics."
When you're setting up a blog, you need to remember this valuable lesson. There are about a billion (952,680,000) websites out there right now according to Internet Live Stats and that number is growing every second. In other words, there is a lot of competition. Now, if this was 2005, then a business could afford to put out uninspired content, because there was much less competition. The online world has changed. The content that you create should build your brand. It shapes the way you're perceived on the internet. You certainly can't afford to damage your brand with staid content.
As a small business owner, you're very knowledgeable about your industry. Yet you need that little something else to reach new people and generate interest with new visitors. One part of that equation is research and the other side is publishing. Research the kinds of things your customers want to know about. Publish the kinds of things that can help them succeed in their business. Everybody wants to be successful in their business. Nobody goes into it saying, "Well, I'll give it a try - but it might fail." People go into business, because they want to make a difference and want to succeed. I know making a difference is high on my agenda.
Remember - quality matters and that takes work, dedication, and courage.
I wish you the best in your pursuit of online content excellence. Make your words count and make a difference in the world.
